In a rare move, Apple publishes a brief post on racism just two days after #blackouttuesday. The technology giant kept the post simple and short, urging their followers to read over the company’s actions regarding inclusivity, racial violence, and insensitivity.
While some users seem to like the post, others took to the comments to express discontent over insufficient coverage of other racial injustices worldwide. A subsequent video post has Apple CEO Tim Cook confirming Apple’s 100 million dollar commitment to Apple’s Racial Equity and Justice Initiative. Instead of donating to social justice organizations, Apple decided to invest in its own program to “help create positive outcomes for communities of color.”
