The social media network encourages other to share Black centered content/stories as par of #blackouttuesday. While Instagram’s parent company, Facebook, did announce their donation to the cause, Instagram choose to partake in this social justice movement by prompting the public to use this platform to uplift Black voices and promote their stories.
Instead of encouraging a boycott or silence, Instagram encouraged users/followers to share black-centered stories with #blackouttuesday to highlight the black community, and also by using the platform features such as Instagram Stories with #shareblackstories.
